Mr. Blackman mediates commercial, contract, real estate, civil rights, attorney-client, environmental, trademark, copyright, unfair competition, insurance, employment, and personal injury disputes.
Before becoming a mediator, Mr. Blackman was a partner in the Los Angeles office of McDermott, Will & Emery. Prior to joining MWE, he was a partner at Kadison, Pfaelzer, Woodard, Quinn & Rossi, also in Los Angeles. His law and mediation experience covers an eclectic group of practice areas focused in general business matters and litigation, with particular emphasis in the areas of contractual disputes, unfair competition (including trademark and copyright matters), wrongful termination; real estate (including entitlements and development matters, land use disputes, nuisance, and water rights), First Amendment matters (including libel, slander, and invasion of privacy), administrative agency matters, professional negligence, voting and civil rights, airports and aviation matters, and environmental law.
Education And Professional Matters
Mr. Blackman received his law degree from the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the Southern California Law Review.
In addition to acting as a private mediator and arbitrator, Lee is a member of the Mediation Panel of the United States District Court for the Central District of California and mediates for the L.A. County Bar Association's Atttorney Client Arbitration and Mediation Service, the County Bar's Civic Mediation Project, the California Academy of Mediation Professionals, the Center for Conflict Resolution, and the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs. He has regularly acted as a Temporary Judge and as a Mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court and is an Arbitrator for the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Attorney Client Mediation and Arbitration Service. He is a Vice-Chair of the L.A. County Bar's Attorney Client Mediation and Arbitration Service and a Co-Chair of its Mediation Subcommittee. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Arizona Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, and chair of its Continuing Legal Eduction subcommittee. He has trained mediators and arbitrators to use Zoom in both mediations and arbitrations.
His formal mediation training includes basic and advanced courses of study with the Los Angeles County Bar's Center for Civic Mediation, the U.S. District Court's Advanced Mediation Training Programs, and regular continuing education courses.
He is both a member of the Southern California Mediation Association and a former elected member of its Board of Directors.

In May of 2015, Lee was honored to receive The Honorable Benjamin Aranda III Outstanding Public Service Award for his work providing mediation services to the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Center for Civic Mediation, the Center's clients, and parties with landlord-tenant disputes in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
